Town Hall Raises Ininew Friendship Centre Flag for National Indigenous Peoples Day

ININEW FRIENDSHIP CENTRE FLAG RAISING AT TOWN HALL

On Friday June 21st 2019, Town Hall held a flag raising ceremony to raise the Ininew Friendship Centre flag at the Town of Cochrane municipal office to mark National Indigenous Peoples Day.

A DAY TO CELEBRATE INDIGENOUS CULTURE & HERITAGE

National Indigenous Peoples Day is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First NationsInuit and Métis peoples. Learn more about this day here.

The Ininew Friendship Centre hosted an event at the Commando Pavilion, starting with a Sunrise Ceremony, followed by breakfast and activities throughout the day.

The Ininew Friendship Centre’s objectives are to develop, expand, and preserve Aboriginal cultural identity through the institution of education and socially oriented programs for all people of Aboriginal ancestry. The Ininew Friendship Centre provides informational, communication and interpretive services to resident and transient people of Aboriginal ancestry in the areas of legal-aid, medical appointments, and accommodation. The Ininew Friendship Centre provides a meeting place and milieu in which people of Aboriginal ancestry may freely interact and socialize.
