in partnership with the REC Board and Cochrane Crunch

The Town of Cochrane in partnership with the Recreation, Events and Culture Board (REC Board) and the Cochrane Crunch are beyond excited to be hosting the 2020 Santa Claus Parade this year. While this year has brought many challenges to our community we want to celebrate the holiday season together, just six feet apart.

This year’s parade will be hosted on Thursday December 10th and begin at 6:00pm. However, it will look a little different than previous parades. The parade route will wind around Lake Commando. Floats will line up on 5th Ave and the parade will start at 5th Ave and 3rd Street, turn left onto Railway Street, left onto 6th Ave, right onto 5th Street following the lake and right onto 12th Ave where it will finish at the corner of 12th Ave and Railway/3rd Street.

The Town, REC Board and Cochrane Crunch would like to stress the importance of spectators and float organizers following all health and safety guidelines from the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) and Ministry of Health. It is by following these guidelines that we are able to host this event and ensure the safety of our community.

We ask that all spectators stay in their vehicles while watching the parade this year. Each vehicle should only contain members of your household. For those participating in the parade we ask that they wear the appropriate PPE including masks and maintain social distancing wherever possible. To both those participating and attending the Santa Claus Parade we ask that you self-screen yourself and family at home before attending the parade. For anyone who should be isolating due to travel or potential exposure, we ask that you remain home for the safety of your fellow community members.

Anyone interested in joining the parade as a business or organization is asked to register online (at or the link can be found on the Town of Cochrane website or Facebook Page.

In lieu of individual floats handing out goodies or treats to spectators the Community Services Department will be taking donations for goodie bags prior to the Santa Claus Parade that can be dropped off at the Tim Horton Events Centre. These donations will need to be received no later than November 26th so that they can be properly stored and handled before creating the goodie bags to be handed out safely by volunteers of the Parade.

We know that this has been a difficult year for all and we look forward to extending some Christmas Cheer safely here in Cochrane.
