THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF COCHRANE
PRESS RELEASE - ANNUAL FIREWORKS DISPLAY CANCELLED
COCHRANE, ONTARIO, June 26, 2020 — The Town of Cochrane remains under a State of Emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On June 12th, 2020, the Province transitioned the state to Phase 2 by slowly easing the restrictions, increasing the limit on social gathering from 5 to 10 people; however, social distancing still remains a high priority, to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
After careful review, staff in consultation with the Porcupine Health Unit, made the decision to cancel the 2020 Fireworks display on Canada Day.
The health and safety of our residents, guests, and employees remain of utmost importance to the Town of Cochrane, said Mayor Denis Clement.
Instead of fireworks staff are planning to hold a family drive-in movie night on July 1st, 2020 to be held at the Tim Horton Event Centre at 10 pm.
