Did You Know?
Cochrane is the birthplace of Tim Horton, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame who founded the Tim Hortons doughnut and coffee shop chain in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1964. Horton grew up playing ice hockey in Cochrane. In 1948, he signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs organization; eventually winning four Stanley Cups.
With the largest gold mine in North America, two world class forestry mills poised for prosperity, some of the leading green energy initiatives in the region, and over 5,000 acres of developed crops, Cochrane’s economy is running on all cylinders.
